Affiliated News Services (ANS) announced Gintautas Dumcius as the next Editor of its MASSterList newsletter. Dumcius brings over 20 years of reporting experience in the politics and policy landscape in the Boston market. He co-founded MASSterList in 2008 while working as a freelance reporter for ANS’ State House News Service.
A Quincy native, Dumcius most recently covered politics and power for CommonWealth Beacon, where he broke the news of Josh Kraft mulling a run for mayor, delved into how a Latino candidate’s victory in Revere reflects a changing city, and dug out the underreported story of how a one-time conduit to power got snared in an FBI wiretap.
He has also served in various editorial roles with the Boston Business Journal, MassLive, and the Dorchester Reporter. In 2013, he drew on his extensive reporting experience and insider access to author “This Way to City Hall,” a book chronicling that year’s open race for mayor.
“Gin’s knack for reporting on power, people, and the personalities that drive decision-making across our community bolsters MASSterList’s position as the leading morning source for plugged-in people,” MASSterList Publisher Dylan Rossiter said. “Given the current newscycle and on the eve of two high-profile elections, his return couldn’t be more timely.”
Gin’s first day will be Monday, July 14. Ella Adams, who has helmed MASSterList since joining Affiliated News Services in November 2023, will remain with the company, taking on a reporter role with the State House News Service.
“I’m thrilled to be returning home to MASSterList and I’m excited to bring the intel and analysis I gather on Beacon Hill and inside city halls to the daily newsletter,” Dumcius said.
