About New Politics Leadership Academy:

New Politics Leadership Academy (NPLA), which is a nonpartisan non-profit organization, was founded in 2016 to transform government by recruiting and developing servant leaders with the highest caliber of integrity, courage, and empathy. At a time when the number of service veterans in elected office is at an all-time low, NPLA is working to help servant leaders overcome the traditional barriers to entering the political arena. Through leadership development experiences, educational programming, and networking events, we’re building a new pipeline into politics for Americans who have served our communities and country and who feel called to continue their service by jumping into the political arena.

Our Need: We are looking for a Director of Programs for program management of core programs— including Staffing School and Foundations. This position manages the Program and Recruitment Manager in charge of our largest offering, Answering The Call. Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Director of Programs will project manage the courses, the reviews/updates of current offerings, and the development of new programs. This position will collaborate with other Departments on outreach, recruitment, and alumni engagement.


  • ●  Manage the planning, implementation, and evaluation of our programs with a focus on consistent improvement of systems and processes to scale the work of NPLA while maintaining the high ratings on quality.
    • ○  Manage logistics of programs with the Programs and Recruitment Manager, including selecting sites/facilitators, communicating with facilitators and participants, securing visiting guests, enrolling participants, tracking attendance and graduation, updating evaluations, and assessing program evaluation reports.
    • ○  Project Manage updates to program curriculum and materials, in coordination with stakeholders and the Chief Program Officer, and based on participant data, facilitator feedback, and best practices in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
    • ○  Serve as a facilitator for programs or special events, including some evenings and weekends.
  • ●  Continuously seek to improve equity and inclusion within our programmatic offerings.
    • ○  Plan and coordinate affinity sessions for participants who identify as women or as BIPOC(currently offered) and build out strategic new offerings.
    • ○  Evaluate programmatic materials and experiences and implement changes to furtherimprove inclusion.
    • ○  Assess retention within programs, especially focused on underrepresented populations,and, as needed recommend and pilot operational changes to combat attrition.
  • ●  Collaborate with other departments and staff on organization-wide priorities and goals related toprogramming, as well as the day to day coordination needed for program implementation (ex: Communications, Recruitment, etc.).

We are looking for someone who has experience with or capabilities of:

  • ●  Managing details, timelines, and logistics with skill and passion
  • ●  Identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness as it relates to systems andthen managing the process of making updates or improvements
  • ●  Engaging facilitation skills; providing structure for discussion, stimulating interaction without bias,and holding space for inclusive sharing
  • ●  Implementing programs; including setting schedules, prioritizing action items, managingcommunications with participants and volunteers, and drafting program plans
  • ●  Values and results-driven people manager
  • ●  Utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform to manage and track participants
  • ●  Working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive programming

    This is a remote position with an option to work in-person at our office in Boston.
