Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join her Medicaid Fraud Division as an Assistant Attorney General to handle complex criminal and civil enforcement actions related to allegations of fraud against the state Medicaid program and allegations of abuse and neglect of residents of long-term care facilities.

Primary Duties: Managing a caseload of complex civil and criminal matters with responsibilities including: partnering with federal, state, and civilian investigators to investigate allegations of fraud against the state Medicaid program and allegations of abuse, neglect, and misappropriation of funds occurring in long-term care facilities; drafting administrative demands, civil investigative demands, and grand jury subpoenas; drafting complaints for civil cases and applications for complaints in criminal district court cases; drafting indictments and presenting evidence to grand juries; preparing prosecution memoranda and search warrants; taking and defending depositions; taking civil investigative demand oral testimony; handling pretrial motions and discovery; drafting legal memoranda on motions to dismiss, motions to suppress, motions in limine, and summary judgment motions; conducting settlement and plea negotiations; and conducting bench and jury trials in both civil and criminal courts across the Commonwealth.

Position Requirements: Three to six years of civil litigation experience, including taking depositions of adverse parties; or three to six years of criminal prosecution experience, including significant experience conducting grand jury investigations and superior court trials, is preferred. Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to exercise good judgment and decision making while working within a collaborative team structure. Background and experience in complex civil litigation, health care fraud litigation, and False Claims Act litigation involving pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and Medicare/Medicaid providers preferred. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection and commitment to the people and communities we serve, including historically marginalized communities, and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment. Strong oral and written advocacy skills required. Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.

Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt

Salary: $78,586 to $117,879, commensurate with JD year and experience.
